Search Engines and
Directories
All
of our web sites are submitted to major
search engines that do not require a listing fee. This is
done on a monthly basis for all hosting accounts at no charge. While we
feel this is a valuable service, we do not recommend that
you rely solely on this service to market and promote your
web site. Below you will find a few ideas to help you
promote your new or existing web site.
Pay Per Click
Advertising
This is one of the fastest ways to get your web site
listed on search engines. This method of advertising
allows for immediate "targeted" traffic and is highly
recommended for new sites. We use Overture and Google
AdWords for best results, however, there are several pay
per click engines available.
Web Site Advertising
Paid advertising on high traffic web sites within your industry is a very
good way to generate traffic to your web site. It is important that you select a
high traffic web site that relates to your business. For example, if you have a
web site that promotes or sells food items you may want to advertise on a site
such as The Food Network. Online magazines that "review" products are also a
good source of promotion. These types of web sites generate extreme traffic and
your ad will be seen by their visitors. Other ideas would be to advertise on
your local newspaper's web site, any associations you belong to and your state's
web site.
Reciprocal Links/Link Trading
Trading links with other web sites is a moderate way to boost traffic and in
some cases get better search engine placement. The key here is to place your
link on as many pages possible while being very selective as not to place
competing links on your web site.
Signature Block/E-mail Signature
You should always use an e-mail signature on all outgoing e-mail. This would
be a short description of your web site or service and should include your
telephone number, e-mail address and your web site address (URL). Most E-mail
programs facilitate this signature automatically.
Newsletters/Notices
This is a great way to keep your customers coming back. Newsletters,
updates, specials and new product introductions can be done on a monthly basis
or as needed using e-mail addresses gathered from your visitors.
Print Advertising
Your print advertising should always include your web site address an in
some cases your e-mail address. This would include any direct mail.
Banner Exchanges
Several companies such as Link Exchange offer you the ability to place your
banner on other sites and in exchange you would host other web site banners on
your web site. This is very similar to reciprocal links, however in most cases
it is automated and you have less control on what is promoted on your web site.
Word of Mouth
You should always verbally promote your web site to anyone who will listen.
No one can promote your web site like you can. You can also use a Guestbook to
let your satisfied customers speak for you.
Remember...Always Keep it Fresh and Give Them a Good Reason To Come Back!
